DLPC964: Does the 64B/66B controller support both the Framing Interface and the Streaming Interface?

Hi All,

Does the 64B/66B controller support
both the Framing Interface
and the Streaming Interface?

Looking at sections 7.3.1 and 7.3.1.1 of the TRM, it appears to send 64 DMD blocks
via an Aurora-compatible interface. However, native Aurora does not inherently signal DMD block boundaries, so it appears a mechanism using User-K is employed to indicate them (e.g., signaling the length?).
Therefore, regarding the Aurora data transfer specification for sending the DMD contents, it is unclear whether it is Streaming or Framing.

Best Regards,

Ito

  • Hello Ito

At the Aurora link layer, the interface is configured as a Streaming Interface. The Aurora 64B/66B does not inherently provide DMD block boundaries, so to address this, the DLPC964 Controller interprets the User-K data within the Aurora stream and applies its own internal framing logic to align the incoming data into the required 64-block DMD packets.
