After struggeling with the DLP EVM GUI software, I realised there is an entirely different software with very similar functionality. Now I am trying to use the "DLP LightCrafter Display 7.4" software instead to backup and make minor changes to the firmware.
I can use this software to switch between the different default patterns, do keystone correction etc. But I am unable to make any changes to the firmware. I created a backup of the original firmware and confirmed that it is working. Afterwards I try to use the "Update Flash Image" function to replace the splash screen. But whenever I use Update Flash Image and then upload the newly created firmware, it will cause problems. Even when I don't do any changes to the firmware.
As soon as I upload the newly created image/firmware, the "DLP LightCrafter Display" will constanctly freeze when I try to make any changes. I can not even use the default display patterns without the software freezing
Even after disconnecting the projector from USB, removing power, restarting the computer etc. ... it now will always freeze and not make any changes. Luckily I can still access the firmware page ones it unfreezes for a moment and reflash the backup, which solves the freezing of the software. But this does not solve the problem, that I can not change the splash screen.
Also when I try to replace the splash screen in the firmware image, it will always show a weid black/white checkerboard pattern with many blue artifacts, but won't show the actual image I uploaded. I tried many different formats and sizes etc, the problem is always the same.
Why is the "Updata Flash Image" functionality causing the software to be unstable and why can I not change the splash screen?
