External triggering

Hello Texas instrument,

I have set up the external triggering using J505 Pin 6 and pin 2.

The triggering worked as a manual step for the 1 bit image solution, the image switched to the next as the signal is triggered.

Though when using to 8 bit solution, the triggering worked as a manual step, though the image is projecting in 1 bit instead of 8 bit. We have the 2 following results:

1. The 1st image would stayed projected (though as 1 bit instead of 8 bit image), and wait for the trigger signal. And when the signal is triggered, the image would be switched to the second image and stay projected.

2. The screen would be black at the beginning, and wait for the trigger signal. And when the signal is triggered, the first image would be projected as 8 bit for a short second and stay black again.  And when the signal is triggered again,  the second image would be projected as 8 bit for a short second.

Though, in the second result, there are some instances where there are some random flashing for image showing up when no signal is triggered.

Therefore, I am wondering:
1. Which result is the correct one for external triggering?
2. Is the projecting suppose to be black for the second result to wait for the trigger signal?
3. What is causing the random flashing of the  image?

  • Hello Wei Hao,

This sounds like you are triggering before the frametime has completed.  In your solution the Frame Rate must be faster than the trigger rate.  Otherwise your trigger will send the image back to the first bit before the grayscale sequence is complete.

The other thing that I have seen is a signal that is not clean.  If there is a bounce in the trigger signal it can be interpreted as a second trigger event.

Let me know if this helps.
