Unable to start DEMO project using LightCommander Control Software

Hello,

I am trying to set up the LightCommander and going tthrough the steps in the software manual (PN1015703A). However, when I try to run the demos project "LogicLogo", an error message "LCCtrl has stopped working" appears.

When I go back to check the system status on the splash screen, I noticed the "DLP_status_GetSeqRunState" is "1", which differs from the default value shown in the manual.

Without knowing what the root cause of this error message is, I have .NET Framework 4, which is more than what the software manual recommands (v3.5).

Any suggestion or comment is greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Ku

  • Hello Ku,

    Welcome to DLP&MEMS forum.

The LC application would run on anything above .NET v3.0 framework. So it is not the problem with .NET framework 4.0.

I presume you are running this on Windows 7. The windows 7 has security settings which by default don't have write permissions in the root [c:\] drive. So when you are running the LogicLogo demo it is trying to create intermediate files, as the default  Windows permission setting is set to 'read only' it is stopping LCCtrl application.

Please follow the below steps -

    1. Got to <DriveName>:\ ProgramFiles->DLP® LightCommander™ Control Software folder.

    2. Right Click on the folder and then goto properties window, give full permission (both read and write)

Now, try running the "LogiLogo" application, it should work.

FYI, this link http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/windows-7-access-denied-permission-ownership/ explains more on the Windows 7 permission access settings.

  • Hello, Sanjeev and Ku,

I have a completely same problem with Ku. I have followed by Sanjeev's suggestions.

I changed the install directory to C:\ instead of C:\Program Files, and I added the write permission for DLP LightCommernder Control Software folder.

However, the problem have not been solved yet. The error dialog still has appeared.

Have you solved the problem, Ku?

I have installed it to Windows XP OS as well as Windows 7. But the problem was completely the same.

Does someone know the similar problems or solution for it?

    Best regards,

    Hajime

  • Hi,

I am self reporting the solution of my problem.

My colleague told me that the problem was occurred by trade mark characters, R and TM in the default install folder name DLP"R" LightCommernder"TM" Control Software.

I erased "R" and "TM" from the folder name when I re-install the software, the problem was solved.

I do not know that it is only problem for Japanese version of Windows. But I think that someone would have a similar problem.

    Best,

    Hajime

  • Hi Hajime,

If would be helpful if you could mentioned the details on the Windows OS. XP or 7 / 32bit or 64bit machine. I am sure this software must have been tried Japense version of Windows as we have interacted with several LC users from Japan.

Here, this software has been tried on english version of Windows XP & 7 both 32bit and 64bit machine; on 64bit machine the application runs in 32bit mode.

    Regards,

    Sanjeev

  • Hi, Sanjeev,

    I tried Windows 7 and XP(SP3) 32bit Japanese version.

Both of them has same problem, the dialog LCCtrl has stopped working was appeared, when I push a start or repeat button on demo mode.

I have solved the problem on both win 7 and XP by changing a install folder name excluding "R" and "TM" trade mark characters.

I am happy that this information helps for someone who has a similar problem.

    Best,

    Hajime

  • Hi Hajime,

Yes, we acknowledge it is a problem on Japense version of Windows XP and 7.

Thanks for sharing your work around; there is another way to over come this issue -

Copy the projects under "Sample" folder For example: C:\Program Files\DLP® LightCommander™ Control Software\Samples\ to a another directory and from there you will be able to browse and run the demo projects.

    Regards,

    Sanjeev

  • Hello Hajime,

Sorry for the late response. Glad to know that you figure out the problem. I am using an English version of Window 7 and I didn't need to update the folder name. But I did need to update all the permission setting for all the folders related to LightCommander Control Software by following Sanjeev's advice.
