Programme LightCommander for feedback control

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC200

Hi

I have just started using the DLP LightCommander and am still unfamiliar with the programming software.
I want to program it to generate patterns based on feedback from real-time images taken from a CCD camera.

As a starter, what tools (software) do I need? Is the DLPR200API sufficient?

Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Regards

  • Hi Ping,

    Welcome to DLP&MEMS forum.

If i understood completely, you are interested in controlling DLP LightCommander(TM) to output patterns based on feedback from real-time image captured on the CCD camera.

LightCommander(TM) can work in two types of mode - real-time and pre-loaded.

In the pre-loaded mode you can one time program upto 960 1-bit images or 120 8-bit images, select any pattern of your choice from the uploaded images. In this mode there is ovehead time (< 10mSec) of sending command to select pattern of your choice.

In the real-time mode, LightCommander(TM) allows a memory space of 24 1 bit images or 3 8bit images. The data has to be pre-formated and has to be sent via DVI port.

There is lot of material available on E2E forum and Kit user guide on programming patterns and control.

  • Hi Sanjeev,

    Thanks for your reply.
Yes I will be using the DLP LightCommander for that purpose.

I have gone through the manuals (development kit user guide, API reference manuals) previously, but am not really sure where to start. (complete newbie)

From what I gather, to start things off, I will have to download the DLPC200 configuration and support firmware? (DLPR200API, DLPR200F, DLPR200USB and DLPR200APP)
and from then on, what software can I use to write the programmes?

    Thanks

  • Hi Ping,

For beginner I suggest you start familarizing by referring to User Manul and playing with LightCommander(TM). You will get the DLP LightCommander(TM) Control software with good graphical interface to communicate with Kit. This software can be downloaded from LOGIC website http://www.logicpd.com/products/system-on-modules/dlp-lightcommander-development-kit/#documentation.

The next step after familarizing will be to develop your own control application for this you can refer to DLPR200API, DLPR200APP.

DLPR200F is firmware comes with programmed on the Kit. In future if any firmware upgrade available you can visit to DLPR200F link and update firmware on your hardware.

DLPR200USB is PC side usb driver, this comes with DLP LightCommander(TM) Control software package also.  Follow the User manual to install driver on the PC.

  • Thanks Sanjeev.

I will tinker around with the control softwares and API and learn from there.
