Darkchip4 projector identified as DC3 on computer.

My projector, according to the manual says Darkchip4 is being used but when i connect to my computer the computer recognizes the projector as a monitor and the automatic title that appears on the name of the monitor has DC3 along with some other numbers preceding it. what does this mean? DC3 i assume stands for Darkchip3. Why would a Darkchip4 projector read as DC3?

Thanks in advance to anyone for your answers.

  • Hello Monahar,

Welcome to the DLP section of the TI-E2E Community.

We build DMDs that we sell to manufacturers (OEMs), but the projectors are made by the respective manufacturer (OEM) whose name is on the projector.  You will need to contact them to find out this type of information.

Any idea when a Darkchip5 or a next generation chip will be released? What will be the improvements? LCOS chips are producing higher levels of on/off contrast. Are the future chips goiing to be able to match or better those levels?
