Using Micro SD to upload many Patterns

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC300

We have an application that requires projecting too many (about 400~600) 1-bit patterns, these are uploaded through the LCr GUI already.

 Now i have two questions:

1.  Can i just use the Micro SD card to upload the patterns? Because it takes too long time by using LCr GUI . What should i do?

2.  How can directly control the  DLP lCr, without using the LCr GUI in  PCs?  Is it possible? Perhaps use I2C? I am not familiar with this, sorry.

Thank you very much in advance.

best regards,

Di

  • Nobody knows? I'm trying to save a set of images on the external micro-SD card and load them, but it dosen't work.

Can  the current version of software  load images on the micro-SD card?

    thanks,

    Di

  • Hi Di,

Which version you are referring to? If the DM365 version is > 3.2 then you will be able to display the images like slide show.

    To run SlideShow mode -

Just format the microSD card in FAT format. Put images in the microSD card, then create .txt file by name config.txt. Then open the text file put the image names in the order you want display. One image name per line.

For example the conent look like this -

    10
    1.bmp
    2.bmp
    3.bmp
    4.bmp

Observe in the beginning there is a number, this for delay in Sec. The delay parameter is optional. If it is not mentioned it will use default 3.0Seconds.

Insert the microSD card and power on the board wait for boot completion. Press 'Push button' on the system board to start the slide show.

I am not sure you interested to use this option  this is because the image displayed here are like regular 24bpp pictures images. This is not suitable for structured light mode.

The LightCrafter has option to 'save' configuration so there is no need to download again and again. In you case you can download once and save it as solution. Then next time use 'load solution' option to load the configuration.

  • Thank you very much Sanjeev,

I have tried to do what es you said:

    1. format the microSD card in FAT format and put two 24bbp images in the microSD card,

    2. create  config.txt file and  then open the text file put the image names like:

               2

               LightCrafter.bmp

               Mangrove.bmp

    3.  Insert the microSD card and power on the board wait for boot completion.

    4.  Press 'Push button' (where ist it? i have tried all the bottons what i can see)

But it still dosen't work, is there anything wrong?

p.s. i didn't connect the LCr into my PC, i think i don't have to..

  • Hi Di,

The one marked in 'Red' aread is push-button I am talking. The top button is 'System Push Button' and bottom one is 'Power Push Button'.

You have to hold it for long time (2-3 seconds) then release it to start displaying patterns in slide show mode.

    Sanjeev

  • Thank you very much,

one more question: can i set the exposure time and pause time (no display on Screen) between two patterns in the SlideShow mode? And if i have hundreds of patterns to display, i must  put so many pattern names in the order?  It is difficult.

    regards,

    Di

  • Hi Di,

The Slide Show operation runs in Static Image Mode. The exposure time parameter is applicable to Pattern Sequence Mode. My recommendation is that you CANNOT/SHOULD NOT use the slide show mode for structured light kind of application. In Slide Show Mode the DLPC300 is not configured to 1:1 pixel mode, the input data goes through degamma correction and scaling so this is not suitable for structured light or 3D capture kind of application.
