Lines on my image

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC410

Hi there, I have just started using our LightCommander and noticed that when I load a bitmap image (8 bit) into the Lightcommander using the sw, I have my image plus a series of lines across the image, therefore giving a low quality image.  I have generated the bitmap image in paint at the specified size of 1024 x 768 and then loaded it using the structured light mode and static image buffer options.  Further settings are frame rate 60Hz, exposure time 16,000, auto trigger generator, various LEDS enable at 50-100% and all syncs enabled.

If you could provide any advice on how to improve my image quality that would be great; happy to send a photo if required.

Thanks, Helen

  • Hello Helen,

Welcome to the DLP section of the TI-E2E Community.

Can you tell me if the lines are vertical on the DMD or horizontal.  If the lines are vertical then a dataline has a bad connection somewhere in the signal path.  If this is the case please contact LogicPD (who makes the LightCommander) directly regarding the issue.

  • Hello,

We use a TI third party D4100 controller board with the 0.7XGA and also see a series of horizontal lines on the image.

We discover that the lines are due to the refresh rate, i.e., the mirrors are being reset.

When we lower the refresh rate to 1 Hz, the frequency of the horizontal lines is reduced.

There is also a watchdog timer function that will automatically reset the mirrors if the user has not reset the mirrors for 10 seconds.

We only load one pattern at a time and want to keep the mirrors in their state for 60 secs or so.

    Is it p

Thanks, ossible to disable this watchdog timer?

  • Hello Hung,

Welcome to the DLP section of the TI-E2E Community.

You need to contact the maker of the third party D4100 controller that you purchased the board from.  They can help you information on how to disable the watchdog timer.

Yes you can run at 1 Hz with no ill effect on the DMD.

Alternatively you can look at the documentation on the DLPC410 which is functionaly equivalent to the D4100 controller.  The link is: http://www.ti.com/product/DLPC410

  • Hi, thanks for the reply.  My lines are vertical and also irregular i.e. there are a few lines in some areas of the image which are one length and then a few shorter lines in other areas.  I'll look to contact Ligic PD to get this resolved.

    Thanks,

    Helen
