About D4100 kit running under the XP mode of Win 7

Hello,everybody. I am using D4100 kit in my system and running the D4100 explorer in the XP Mode(Win XP SP2) of Win 7 because my whole system is required to run in Win 7 and

I noticed that somebody in this forum has reported success of such method. But I is very difficult for me to connect the DMD mainboard with my host computer . Even if the moment when they can connect, every time I tried to load data into the board , the D4100 explorer just reports errors and dies with no responding. Now the problem seems to be the USB connection but I don't know how to deal with it. I am wondering if there is someone who has done this before can help me.

When the board connects with the host computer, the D4100 explorer will display a prompt window that says "The FPGA is already programmed", is it normal?

Qi,

This is expected behaviour if the APPS_FPGA_GUI code has been loaded once, and has not been powered down before connecting it to a Windows 7 machine. This is letting you know that it sees the valid GUI load in the APPS_FPGA already.

Hi Fizix,

I am getting this "fpga is already programmed" even after i turn off my fpga and then turn it on. Is there a way to reset it back to normal? I use a virtex 5 fpga along with the dlp 4100.

also whenever i load the image make it to run. It goes into a never ending loop and the image is also not displayed in the dmd
Previously it worked fine but after programming the sample code in the fpga this happens. awaiting a reply; Thanx in advance

Did you make a backup copy of the default pattern generator code that came loaded on the PROM? If not please ask for this file from the design house that you purchased the board from. They can give you the *.mcs file for the original program that was in the PROM.

Yeah i have the back up copy of the pattern generator code but even if i use the back up copy it still shows the same problem. Is there any possibility of hardware fault?

Hello Sri,

Could you do a simple test for me? With the board not attached to the system at all could you run the GUI and see if it tells you that the "FPGA is already programmed"?
