Upload many grayscale Image to DLP LightCrafter Kit for structed light ?

Hi !

I want to upload a set of graysacle image data to Kit which can then be used to display in structured light mode but i'm not sure.

Anyone have to do that ? can tell me ?

Thanks !

  • Hi Nguyen,

To start with I suggest you to refer to the Kit User Guide www.ti.com/lit/ug/dlpu006/dlpu006.pdf

To control and configure the kit you need to use Light Crafter GUI control software on the PC.  Here is the link where you can get the GUI software http://www.ti.com/lcrfirmsw11ver2

What is grayscale bit-depth are you planning to use? It currently supports bit-depths in the range 1-8 and maximum 12-bit patterns for refresh rate of 120Hz. Anything above the frame-rate comes down to 55.55Hz.

  • Hi Sanjeev,

    Thank for quickly answer,

I'm planning to use 8 bit-depth grayscale image, but i don't understand "12-bit pattern", can you give me a example ?

the following file is image which i'm planning to use for my system, it's sined grayscale image, i'll tranfer that three images with different phase to the memory of DLP LightCrafter' to sequence project, do i correct ?

    thanhks !

  • Hi Nguyen,

Sorry for mistake in the wording. I was intending to mention 12 number of 8-bit patterns, 12-bit grayscale anyway not possible on LightCrafter hardware.

Sure, you will be able to upload the 8-bit grayscale images.

Let me know if you find any problem.

    Regards,

    Sanjeev

  • Hi Sanjeev,

I want to give you an other question,

I want to use a external camera to capture the pattern images, A software on PC to reconstruction 3D model from Images that captured by camera,

But now i don't know how trigger DLP LightCrafter start to creat pattern from my software on PC.

    Can you help me ?

    Thanks !

  • Hi Nguyen,

Thanks for providing details about your application.

What kind of camera you are using? Does it take external h/w trigger signal input? Or Does camera generates a trigger pulse after capturing a frame?

The above question answer how LightCrafter needs to be configured.

I suggest you should play with the kit to understand more about configuring it. Using the GUI configure the kit in 'Pattern Sequence Mode' select number of patterns and the bit-depth, decide the exposure time as per your camera capture time.

Remember to configure the kit in hardware trigger mode input/output based on how you want it to trigger it.

    Regards,

    Sanjeev
