minimum exposure time for Pattern Sequence

What is the minimum exposure time for Pattern Sequence for 8bit pattern?

(I'm using LightCrafter.)

Is it 8333us as in the user's guide?

What I'm trying to do is to load 6 images and project the first pattern and take an image and do it for all loaded images.

  • Sean,

Yes. For 8 bit internal pattern sequence, the maximum frame rate is 120 fps, or 8333 us per frame. Now, within that frame time, there are 8 subframes with lengths weighted by the bit weights of the 8 bit planes (essentially, 0.5 for b7 (MSB), 0.25 for b6, . . . 1/256 for b0 (LSB)., or about 32.5 us for the b0 bit plane.

If you are running a sequence of 6 images at 120 fps, you can set your trigger for each frame. If your camera is triggered, and has an exposure set to 8333 us (neglecting any delays), then each exposure will take into account (integrate) the effects of all 8 bit planes in each frame.

  • Pascal,

    Thanks for your answer.

I'm wondering if there is any way to make it faster than 8333us.

    Best regards,

    Sean

  • Sean,

Are you asking for faster than 8333us at 8 bit depth? If you are asking if it is possible to reduce the exposure time for 8 bit depth, then there is not a way to do this.

It is possible by reducing the bit depth. See table 3-3. Internal Pattern Exposure Time in the DLP® LightCrafter™ Evaluation Module (EVM) User's Guide (http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/dlpu006/dlpu006.pdf).
