D4100 for Grayscale image

Hello everyone, I am using the D4100 Starter 0.7 XGA VIS Kit, and I want to know if this module can produce 8 bit grayscale image. Is there any board or module needed?

Thank you!!!   Also, is the NIR D4100 available now?

  • Hello Qi,

To produce 8-bit grayscale images set the exposure length of the sensor you are using 8x longer than the pattern rate of the DMD.  The D4100 Discovery is an evaluation module.

There is not a NIR D4100 Discovery kit available at this time.

    Best regards,

    Eric

  • Hello Qi,

I need to make a slight correction to the information given by ELD.  You will need to set your exposure length to 256x longer than the binary pattern rate of the DMD.

This is because to achieve grayscale you will show the LSB for 1 binary frame time, LSB+1 for 2 binary frames, LSB+2 for 4 binary frames . . . , MSB-1 for 64 binary frames, and the MSB for 128 binary frames.  The total number of frames for all the bits will be 256 binary frames.

This will effectively build a grayscale image.

I hope this helps - Fizix.
