DLP Light Commander spills the light ?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP5500

Hello,

We use the DLP Light Commander to project the 8 bit image via API. It seems to project the intended image at the correct position, however, the pinkish-purple light is also projected above the image like a flare, not superimposed on the image. We tried to use the different image and lens, and project the image through Control Software, but the flare did not disappeared. How can we fix it?

  • Hello Yutaka,

If you have read throught the DLP LightCommander optical path you will find that there are set of two curved mirros which will help bending the light to bring it on to the DMD surface.

We found couple of instances where these two mirrors disclocating I think this could be the problem you are facing.

On the E2E forum there was a discussion on similar topic please go through it and let us know if it helps http://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp__mems_micro-electro-mechanical_systems/f/387/p/168291/628187.aspx

  • Light Commander foundation Fashion home link, has fashioned a primary 3D verifying program using the Light Commander foundation that shows the strong value of Light Commander foundation for no contact focused 3D figure.

  • colp222 - Tiger,

I am not sure what you are trying to say here. Could you clarify?

I think that you are saying that 3D measurement is one of the demonstrated capabilities of DLP technology. This is true. This is an application which is enabled by DLP technology with DMD arrays of several different sizes, resolutions, and speeds. Not just the DLP5500 which was used in the DLP LightCommander.

  • Hello Sanjeev,

Thank you for your advice and sorry for the late reply.

I read the discussion in http://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp__mems_micro-electro-mechanical_systems/f/387/p/168291/628187.aspx

The aperture settings on the projection lens is OK (f/1.8 and an aperture lock is unlocked) , and I found that there are two mirrors around the lens mount. However, I cannot understand whether the mirror alignment is correct or not. I removed the TOP/Side enclosure, but I did not access the inside because there is no trox drivers in our office. There is the drivers at my home, so I will check it in detail. Weakening LED intensity decreased the intensity of pinkish light while the weakened pinkish light remained.

I contacted the distributer where we purchased the Lightcommader, and they apologized that they did not accept our request to fix it since it was EOL. Therefore I want to fix it by myself. if it is possible, please tell me the information.

    Regards,

    Yutaka

  • Hi Yutaka,

Apart from Cruved Mirrors adjustment, playing with LED intensity helps.

One more sugestion, also try chaging the Duty Cycle of Red , Green and Blue LEDs.
