Collimating the beam coming out of the LightCrafter

Hello,

We need to collimate the beam coming out of the LightCrafter in order to use it as a source of illumination in the microscope. From reading the forum I understand that the beam has a 100% vertical offset.

Is it still possible to collimate it without significant loss of resolution? Or the only way is to remove the light engine and use custom optics setup?

Was anyone successful in collimating the beam?

Thanks in advance.

Best,

Tatyana Perlova

  • Tatyana,

I can not answer your question for certain. It may be possible to use the 100% offset to illuminate the microscope. Certainly a custom optics setup could better suit your requirements, but will require significant design and fabrication efforts.

The DLP LightCrafter is supplied with a Pico light engine, such as is used in Pico projectors - thus the 100% offset design. The engine is supplied in order to allow immediate results upon plugging in the LightCrafter, but is not intended to be the definitive light engine solution for all applications. Many applications will require further optical development.
