LightCommander DLP Artifacts

In this test image, there should be a white arrow and a dark arrow outlined in white. The vertical lines and the "shadow" coming off the tail of the small arrow are

undesired.

The DLP daughterboard is connected to the motherboard via the 1ft FlexCable provided by TI. It is highly unlikely that it is a connection issue, as the problem persists

even after dis/reconnecting the FlexCable and reseating the DLP chip in the ZIF socket.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Best Regards,

Adam Stevens

  • Hello Adam Stevens,

Quick suggestions to debug further -

    1. Try displaying test patterns on the DMD like checker-board, or solid white, verify if the artifacts still appear.

    2. Remove the flex-cable connect the DMD daughter card directly to the main-controller board. Verify if both internal test patterns and the image appear proper.

In both cases the artifact still appear then the problem has to be with DMD daughter card and DMD not proper inserted in the ZIF socket. You can remove the DMD from the socket and check if any pins are broken.
