DMD for high power laser beam shaping advice?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP7000, DLP9500

I need uniform light at 980nm to heat product.

1: collimated and homogenized rectangular laser light area: 10W/in^2 2inch*30inch(width*length) (may have a little divergence)

2: wavelength: 980nm ( laser diode bar as source or more fiber laser sources depend on homogenizer ability)

3: length of the homogenized and collimated beam: 2inch*30inch(width*length)

4: energy density on product: 10W/inch^2

5: working distance is flexible(1m is maximum).

question: 1.is it possible to get this kind of homgenizer beam(use DMD and projector)?

from gaussian beam to flat top beam

2. DMD reflectivity and diffraction at 980nm ?

2. the power density on DMD? 980nm maybe 600W laser diode fiber laser to illumating DMD,is that ok?

or I can use more lasers and more DMDs to divide power to do this

3. how about the cost of cotroller and DMD(the whole system), which kind of DMD do you recommend.

thank you

  • Hello Cuiping,

I am very sorry that this post got overlooked.  It was my fault.  A belated welcome to the DLP section of the TI-E2E Community.

Currently we do not offer a DMD optimized for the NIR.

    The VISIBLE DMD's have a power limitiation of about 20 W/cm2.  This would mean about 15 XGA DMD's or 10 1080p DMD's.

For high power VISIBLE systems in the visible I would recommend our Type A DMDs such as the DLP7000 or the DLP9500.  The chipsets are available at the embedded links.  Pricing for the chipsets can be found from these links.

Discovery 4100 Evaluation Kits are available from our DLP Design House Network.  Pricing for evaluation kits can be obtained from the Design Houses that sell the Discovery 4100 Evaluation Kit.

I would like to re-iterate that we do not offer any DMD's optimized for the NIR part of the spectrum at this time.

    Fizix.
