DMD stuck mirrors

Hi, I have an Acer H5360 DLP projector which has recently developed what I have had confirmed are stuck mirrors. The projector is two years old and has had 800 hours use.

I am in negotiation with the retailer regarding a repair, however it has been suggested by the retailer that such failure is 'par for the course' so to speak.

I would be grateful if a TI employee could help me with a couple of queries i have regarding DLP technology.

Can you confirm the following please?

A) If the Acer H5360 uses the a Texas Instruments DMD chip?

B) Would stuck mirrors be an indication that the DMD chip is inherently faulty?

C) Do the DMD chips carry a 5 year warranty that can be redeemed by either the manufacturer or directly from yourselves?

D) Is a fault of this nature typical of a Texas Instrument chip with only 800 hours use over two years?

Thanks you for your time.

Yours Faithfully,

Andrew

  • Andrew,

We regret to hear that you are experiencing a problem with the Acer H5360. This problem must be addressed through the manufacturer, Acer.

We certainly are disappointed that your retailer suggests it is 'par for the course'. Please request that your retailer take this up with Acer.

This is all that I can offer at this point. Retail products must be supported by their manufacturer. This forum is for support of DLP Embedded customers who buy our chipsets. See http://ti.com/dlp.

I hope that you are able to get a resolution to this issue.

  • Hi Pascal, would this question perhaps be better suited to another ti forum? Also would you be able to offer a price for a replacement dmd chip for the acer h5360?

    Thanks,

    Andy

  • Andrew,

There is not a TI E2E forum for commercial products, such as the Acer H5360. Support for that product is only through Acer. Perhaps there is an Acer support forum; I don't know.

A replacement DMD chip, or repair, for this product would only be available from Acer.

The DLP DMD chipsets which are available from TI are listed at http://ti.com/dlp. These DMD chipsets are available for purchase, and are supported through the TI DLP & MEMS E2E forum.
