DLP Lightcrafter drivers don't install

I'm using windows XP SP 3 and when I plug in the DLP LightCrafter it first says that I should use a high speed USB port (I think all the ports on my computer are the same) and then is unable to find the drivers to install. In the Device Manager the device is recognized as an unknown RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget and I get a code 28 error. I at no point in the initial menu or in the device manager have the option to download the drivers from the internet.

Additionally, the led at the bottom left corner of the DM365 chip flashes green and red. I can't find any documentation telling me what this means

I have downloaded the firmware and software package 2.0.1 today and the GUI opens but unsurprisingly can not connect to the Lc. I have looked at http://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp__mems_micro-electro-mechanical_systems/f/850/t/196983.aspx and am afraid I don't understand when I am supposed to do to fix this problem. I also downloaded the older 1.1 firmware and software package but that didn't seem to get me anywhere.

  • Michael,

First, the LED at the corner of the DM365 chip flashing green/red is normal. That is a "heartbeat" that says everything is booted up and running right. If the LightCrafter does not correctly initialize, this LED will remain red.

    Is your LightCrafter a V2.0?

Is the computer online when you plug in the LightCrafter to install the RNDIS driver? The RNDIS driver is not distributed separately from Microsofts online repository - the computer should transparently download it and install from the internet.

However, if this does not happen (as in your case) try this:

    1) Open Control Panel then Device Manager.

    2) Find the failed RNDIS driver

    3) Right click and tell it to "update driver software"

    4) Select a driver for another device listed under "Network adapters" the "Remote NDIS Compatible Device" driver is listed under "Microsoft Corporation" manufacturer

  • I had it registering under the network adapters. It saidthe drivers are up to date. I don't know if its 2.0 (I bought it last week so I assume so?) but I can't find anything that says so either way.

When I used the GUI to connect, it said there is a mismatch between the firmware and that i need to upgrade to version 4.0. The readme file said how to do this with a micro sd card, and I did that, but I think I messed something up and now the computer doesn't even register it and the light stays green. When I was trying to upgrade the DM365 it was supposed to be red first then flash green later. it never went red it was always green.

Is there a way to fix this? when I power it on it just gives a Keynote Photonics splash screen and the LED stays green. My computer does not register it. Did I destroy it by attempting to load the wrong firmware onto it?

    thanks,

    Michael

  • Michael,

I didn't know that your LightCrafter was from Keynote Photonics. You should contact Keynote Photonics with this question. I don't know if there is different firmware for their version. They will be able to help you.
