I want to know if we can control every unit of DMD with the embedded system on LightCrafter 4500. In our application, high frame rate is needed, loading pattern image is not acceptable. Thanks a lot.

Hi Xuanwu Yin,
In order to control the mirrors on the DMD you must use either video mode or pattern sequence mode. Since you want accurate mirror control, pattern sequence mode is the only mode that offers accurate pixel mapping without any video processing.
The DMD display can only be updated by loading patterns from the flash memory or by streaming image data onto the parallel RGB888 interface. You cannot directly access the individual mirrors any other way.
Best regards,
Blair
Hi Blair,
In the case of mine, I will not load any images.
For example, I will shine the green light on the DLP and make each mirror to be on-off with different frequencies.
How to do that?
Many thanks in advance,
James
Hello James,
To accomplish your goal, you'll need to create a series of images and display them sequentially in some form. The images can be stored in flash or sent through the video port, but this is the only way to control the DMD mirrors.
The simplest way to accomplish this is by connecting the HDMI output of a computer to the LightCrafter 4500. The EVM will act as a second monitor, to which you can display the data.
Best regards,
Blair
