Hi,

I'm trying to connect DLP Lightcrafter 4500 with a PC running Ubuntu 12.04. I'm following the instructions in DLP Lightcrafter EVM Users Guide but I'm unable to assign the ip address to usb0. I use the following command:

sudo ifconfig usb0 192.168.1.99 up

which returns

SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
usb0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
usb0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device

Has this been previously experienced? I'm not sure what the problem is so I would appreciate if anyone has suggestions.

Hello Saad,

The LightCrafter and LightCrafter 4500 do not use the same control software. The LightCrafter communicates with a computer via RNDIS, but the LightCrafter 4500 uses an HID USB interface.

The LightCrafter 4500 GUI is available on the EVM's tool page.http://www.ti.com/tool/dlplcr4500evm

Currently we only have a compiled version of the GUI released for Windows, but this installation does include the source code for the GUI. I recommend that you download and install the Windows version. Then copy the source code files for your Ubuntu system.

Thanks for the information. Is it still possible to communicate with it in Ubuntu without using the GUI?

Hi Saad,

Yes, it is possible to communicate with the EVM without the GUI. The GUI source code includes C API and HID USB source code files that can be used in your programs to control the LightCrafter 4500. Please reference the the DLPC350 Programmer's Guide for more information.
