Hi,
I wish to send a 5V square wave trigger pulse to trigger the lightcrafter4500 to display new patterns. I have seen a lot of notes about trigger outputs, but very few on trigger inputs. I know that my 5V square wave is correct - verified through a voltmeter and LED illumination.
I know I need to connect my trigger source pins on J11, but no schematic of this is shown in the trigger manual "triggers to synchronize cameras to patterns". This manual has the following schematic:
My first question: are the pins for the input trigger (J11) arranged in the same way as J14?
My second question: In my past triggering experience, all I needed to do was connect the to TRIG_IN_CON to the source of my 5V square wave pulse, and a ground pin to the ground of my source. I tried that by connecting my system in the following way:
and I didn't get any sort of indicator as to whether this does anything after I tried to use the external trigger setting in the GUI. The black wire leads to ground and the orange wire leads to the square wave. Is this connection correct, or do I need to also connect a 5V VCC supply to the first pin in J11 (i.e. the one directly to the left of the orange wire)? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I didn't have to connect to VCC in previous triggering hardware.
This leads me to my last question: With the GUI, I believe the following (black circled) settings are correct, but I would like some verification:
It seems that using the external trigger setting in the GUI does not change anything - when I have it selected, it seems to continue displaying patterns as before, even if there is no trigger signal at all! Does the LightCrafter4500 use the internal trigger by default if no external trigger is detected? What do I need to change to get it to try to use the external trigger?
Thanks,
Patrick
