Hi everyone,

I have two questions about DLPC2607. Any suggestions are welcomed.

1, How does DLPC2607 communicate with microcontroller? How does DLPC know the pixel data is ready to pick-up? Or are the pixel data always waiting at the PTATA interface?

2, Any suggestion about connection between DSI and DLPC2607?

Hi Jully,

For question 1, DLPC2607 uses parallel RGB control which has 24 data lines, and 4 control lines (HSYNC, VSYNC, Data enable, clock). These are all hardware signals. uP in this case can send I2C commands to the DLPC2706. HSYNC and VSYNC are the main signals to tell DLPC data frame ready.

For question 2, DLPC2607 doesn't support DSI and no way to connect to DLPC2607 as it doesn't have DSI salve.

For question 1, I totally understand the clocks of HSYNC, VSYNC, PCLK and Daten_CMD listed in the datasheet. And know uP uses I2C to control DLPC2607. As you said, the four control lines are hardware signals. Is it true that after uP sending data to the PDATA bus, HSYNC, VSYNC will change and will notice DLPC2607 data is ready to pick up?

For question 2, is that a way to convert DSI to parallel bus?

In parallel RGB bus case, there is no need for uP sending data to PDATA bus. uP processor, more precisely, there is NO software involved to send the data over pDATA bus. DLPC2607 replies on H,V sync, PClk, Daten enable signals to pick up the data frame.

For question 2, yes, if there is an IC that can convert from DSI to parallel bus, it should work for DLPC2607. I think Toshiba has this kind of IC.

Only use PCLK,can I decode the video by dlpc2607 interface?The video is BT656 format.

Hi Tao,

I am not sure I understand you are saying only use "PCLK". DLPC2607 has a RGB parallel interface bus which takes up to 24 lines of input data + Vsync, HSync, Daten, PCLK. Yes, it can take BT656 format.

No, you cannot just use data 0 - 7.

DLPC2607 can takeYCrCb888 or 4:2:2 YCrCb880 on a 24-bit bus using BT.656.
