Scan Failed

Hi,

I just bought the NIRscan module.

The module is on and connected to my laptop.

I use Internet Explorer to display the homepage.

When I run a scan, nothing happens for some seconds and then an error message displays "SCAN FAILED!"

Has someone had a similar problem with a brand new module?

The NIRscan SW version is 1.0.0, do I need some kind of update?

Thanks for any kind of help.

Hello Benjamin,

First, welcome to the DLP section of the TI-E2E Community.

You should not need an update to perform a scan.

Did you use Quick Scan or Custom Scan?

Quick Scan - if you used this option, did you run reference scan first? (Actually I don't think you can bypass this on Quick Scan.

Custom Scan - if you used this option:

Did you run a reference or used the "stored data"? If you "used the stored data" and no reference scan has ever been run it will not be able to find the reference data when you run a scan.

Similarly, if you changed the parameters and regenerated & downloaded patterns for your custom run, you must run a new reference and not re-use previous data.

Hello Fizix,

Thanks for the answer.

Every kind of scan (reference, quick, custom) leads to the same error message.

I'll try again today and let you know if I manage to make it work.

I managed to make it work.

I think the problem was the "USB RDNIS over ethernet" driver installation on windows 7.

If someone has the same problem, let me know so I can help.

Hello Benjamin,

Awwww, you beat me to the punch. This was the next thing I was going to have you look at. In all seriousness, I am very glad that you were able to get it working!

We have indeed found that Windows 7 sometimes does not properly install the RNDIS driver, and it has to be uninstalled and manually re-installed.

What steps did you take to get the driver to work?

First, I installed manually the RNDIS driver. It is really not intuitive. Windows 7 doesn't find it for you, you have to use an existing windows network driver.

After that step, I could access to the NIRSCAN homepage but the scans keep on failing.

I tried to reinstall the driver, uninstalled it, reinstalled it, reuninstalled it, installed another driver, uninstalled it, and finally reinstalled the first driver...

... and it worked.

Don't ask me why.
