Recently, the USB cable attached to the USB port on the D4100 board was accidentally snagged which then bent the solder joints of the port. The computer can no longer recognize the board. Is there a way to re-solder/reattach this port?
Thank you.

Hello Vad,
Welcome to the DLP section of the TI-E2E community.
Whether the port can be resoldered depends upon the damage to the board. If the traces were ripped from the board it may be difficult. If not, then there is a better chance of repair. Without actually seeing the damage it is difficult to answer.
I recommend that you take it to a competent board shop to see what their prognosis is.

Hello Fizix,
Thank you for the reply.
We tried re-soldering the port to the board. After gently connecting the USB cable to the port and powering up, the PC did recognize the device as D4100. However, the D4100 Explorer application acknowledged the USB connection (lower left status) but also stated that No DMD was present.
It is likely that, at that point, one of the soldered connections was already loose because the entire port did come off soon after.
Are there any options for board repair/replacement?
Hello Vad,
Without having some way to evaluate the extent of the damage, it is very difficult to say. The board really needs to be taken to a competent shop that can evaluate the damage and if it can be repaired.
It may be possible, with the schematics and Gerber files available on MySecureSoftware to reconnect directly the USB port to the correct components on the board and then attach the USB port with epoxy. Not the prettiest, but functional.
If you do not have access to the MySecureSoftware Discovery area, please request access from the DLP Design Partner that you purchased the kit from.
