NIR command line

Hello,

We have the NIR Evaluation module and have downloaded the software.

Is there access to the command line interface through the UART connection? If not how?

Is the debug UART TTL?  and at what baud?

The UART connection looks like it matches the FTDI cable. Is that what it is designed for?

Thanks,

JP

  • JP,

I second this request. It would be really useful if TI could provide some documentation on API commands through any (all) of the communication interfaces for this board ....

It is difficult for developers to "adopt" this technology and develop systems around it, if it is a lengthy process to prototype an integrated prototype ....

Please provide some estimation of when API documentation is going to be released.

    Thanks,

    Tom

  • Hello,

I have made some progress but would like some guidance.
I connected a FTDI cable to the Sitara Debug port and connect at 115.2kps. I receive the debug info but am unable to send data to the board. Is this correct and it is only Debug output or should I be able to type commands?

There is source code for dlp_nirscan. Is this the software running under 2.0 or an alternative? Can the commands be accessed via the debug port?

I installed the SDK in Ubuntu 12.0.4 32 bit. I am unable to make the unmodified code. The SDK is located under the download directory. Is this correct?

My goal is to configure the system to continuously receive scans from demo system without using the browser interface. What is the best way to accomplish this?

    Thanks,

    JP
  • Hi JP,

Slightly frustrating that TI are not supporting our command line requests! The longer we are in development the further from our "projects" becoming commercial products containing their DMD's.

I wonder if you could help me. I am wishing to send a command to control (switch) the DMD columns in turn - any thoughts, have you found in the code a protocol to begin even sending commands? Maybe we could work together to figure this out?

    Thanks,
    Tom
  • JP and Tom,

It is indeed our intent to support the command line documentation, but it is in review at this time before we are able to release it. TI has a formal review process for releasing any hardware, firmware or software (executables and/or source code) which takes time, but ensures a better released item.
We understand and share your frustration with the process. Continue to "stay tuned" on this.
