DMD Chip 1910-6143W

I have a Samsung DLP Television and I cannot get a straight answer to why these chips fail and is there a fix or new model chip that replaces this one to solve the failure of these chips.....Changing the chip is relatively simple......This problem seems to be in most samsung and mitsubitsi dlp televisions.......Also does Texas Instruments have a source of replacement chips.......Thanks

  • Dan,

As TI only sells chips to product manufactures who develop the end products, TI is not in a position to discuss details about end products. We would recommend you to discuss this with your TV vendor.

  • In my experience with close to 30 different DLP projectors now, it seems that the DMD itself is not the part that fails, but typically the formatter board that controls the DMD itself. The reason it fails is typically from over heating issues. In this case it's not the fault of TI for designing a poorly ventilated product, it's the TV/projector manufacturer's fault.
