Image at DMD array

Hi everybody.

Iam using DLP3000 DMD and i want to focus light from image to DMD using convex lens but i cannot see my image on DMD.

  • Hello Saqib,
If your system will have a fixed geometery (like a copier) you may need to put a piece of ground glass at the same surface that the DMD array surface would be at and then focus your optics.
If your system is dynamic (like a camera that may focus on objects at various distances, then you would need to set up collections optics and a sensor (camera) with all the mirrors "on". This would be almost the reverse of what a projector does, with the camera geometrically being where the illumination would be.
Could you tell us a little bit more about the system?Fizix
  • Actually the whole arrangement is like this.

This is a fix system arrangement and we have to do reverse of projector (we have to project light on DMD and from DMD to photo diode).

     Regards

  • Hello Saqib,
Looking at your setup you will need to make your DMD mount such that you can slide it aside and insert a small "screen" (either an index card or a piece of ground glass) where the DMD is and set focus, then slide the DMD back in place. It will be very difficult indeed to see it on the DMD.
The other possiblity is to turn the DMD to "all on" remove the detector and place the "screen" where lens 2 re-images the DMD surface. Then move lens 1 to get the object in focus on the DMD which should show up at the "screen". When done put the detector back in the path.
