DLP / Sunlight readable static image

Sirs, good morning

Maybe someone have some experience/ knowledge that can help us.
Also if someone is interested in participating in the project, the doors are opened.

We need to develop a very specific application for outdoor advertisement and probably the DLP technology can be suitable.
- A large outdoor display (retro-projection, 2 sides 80'') that will display static images (> 60 seconds still image)
- The definition (pixel size) can be up to 2mm, so VGA is more than enough.
- If necessary more than one DLP can be used (no continuous stream can enable easy synchronization and large pixel size allows even a manual adjustment of focus)
- Light emitter have to be easily to replace, with a cycle of 1 year more or less.

LCD manufacturers offer displays "sunlight readable" with 1.300 to 2.500 nits for direct sunlight.

Would be possible to achieve something similar with DLPs ?

Thanks, Eduard

  • Hi Eduard,

Thank you for your explanation of your application. Have you looked at the different types of projectors available on www.dlp.com?

  • Mr. good afternoon

    Thanks for your interest !

Actually my interest in using DLP tech began at the site. The Mitsubishi DLP wolud be just perfect (dimension are very close to what we need). In your opinion, how much lamp can be increased (with the necessary refrigeration)  ? Which kind of lamp (or array of them) can be used?

Our initial idea is to make a test using one of them, as the optical system seems to meet all requirements.

    B. Regards, Eduardo
