Unsure about what product I need

Hi everyone,

I might be asking this in the wrong place but I am a bit lost, basically I am looking to buy a projector that has a very high (atleast 750Hz) framerate that can be programmable in C. Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Thanks

  • Hi Jonathan,

You are probably in the right place (if not I will be able to tell you where to go)! But first, can you tell me a little more about your application, I will be able to point you in the right direction when I have a better idea of what you would like to program your projector to do. Also, if you could provide details of any features (in addition to high framerate) you may need, for example, triggering, one-to-one pixel mapping, etc.

    Best regards,
    Trevor
  • So basically the system is going to be an active vision system that is composed of a 750htz camera attatched to an XMOS board and basically I want to point a laser at the projection on a screen and have the projector draw a pixel where the laser is being pointed as the laser moves around, if you imagine that you move the laser really quickly around on the screen then its path would be drawn in real time. I am unsure what triggering and one-to-one pixel mapping mean but it sounds like I may well need that? Thanks for your reply!
  • Hi Jonathan,

We have several Evaluation Modules that may suit your needs. The LightCrafter (3000), the LightCrafter4500, the LightCrafter6500, and the LightCrafter9000 (note that the 6500 and 9000 illumination and optics are sold separately).  These three EVMs have different specifications and resolutions, and I will link to their pages below so you can check out the details and see which may suit your application best. Please let me know if you have any questions!

  • Hi Trevor,

I currently have the lightcrafter 4500, but I need to upgrade to the 9000. As you mentioned, the 9000 does not come with illumination and optics. Where can I get illumination and optics designed for this system? If it is available through TI, could you please provide me with a link? Thank you in advance for your help!

    Regards,

    AJ
  • Hi AJ,

We have a number of companies working on LightCrafter9000 illumination and/or optics modules. I will contact them and see if they can post here about availability and when their module will be released.

    Otherwise, stay tuned!

    Best regards,
    Trevor
