Least expensive DMD/Controller setup for project alphanumeric data?

We are designing a product and we want to project alphanumeric text (no video, pictures, multimedia). We don't really care about the resolution since we are only dealing with text.

A DMD  chip with a scaled down light engine (no RGB elements) seems to be an option.

How much does the cheapest DMD chip cost, what model and what is the simplest controller we can use to achieve this?

Also, if you can give any pointers on the light engine to be used; that would be great.

  • Hello Gaurav,

Welcome to the E2E forum. There are two options I recommend you consider. If the source of the alphanumeric text is a video signal (e.g. RGB888) consider the DLP2010 chipset. If you would like the option to read/display a fixed set of alphanumeric text patterns from external memory, consider the DLP3000 chipset.

    Regards,
