Discovery 4000 and LabView

Hello, this is Jinyang again.

I am trying to use LabView to control DLP Discovery 4000 for automatic image loading. But I had really little experience with LabView. I was told that it is for sure that Discovery 4000 could be controlled be LabView but I couldn't find much information related to this topic.

Where could I find some related materials? How to start?

Jinyang,

Are you controlling the DMD through ActiveX or are you directly communicating with it through the DLL? I get a "Catastrophic Failure" error code when I try to get the DMD to communicate with Labview through ActiveX. Am I missing something???

Here is the block diagram for my small test program.

Hello Anderson,

Welcome to the TI E2E Community. I typically do not use the ActiveX and instead use a library node and talk directly to the D4000_usb.dll.

I assume that the D4000 Explorer software is working.

Yes, the Discovery Explorer software is working.

I've built some sub-vi's using the DLL's and can get the two to talk (like GetNumDev, and etc) but I'm just not understanding how ROWMD, ROWADR, BLKMD, BLKADR and LOADDATA works together to put an image onto the DLP. The programming and user guide pdf's I downloaded were a little lite in their desciptions in the DLL section.

Hey Anderson,

I got the same problem today when I was trying to design the labview program for discovery 1100. Here is the explanation:

DDC control activex is a Activex control not ActiveX server. Therefore, you have to put a ActiveX container in your front panel and then add ActiveX class in. I believe this applies to both discovery 1100 and 4000. Try it!

Hello all,

would it be possible for someone to send me an example Labview code for communicating with the Discovery device?

Some have referred to use the TI's Labview example but I was not able to find it.

actually, what I have is a DLP Light Commander kit.

Would the code for the Discovery kit also work for this?

If not, maybe the code for the Discovery kit would be a good starting point...

Welcome to the DLP section of the TI-E2E Community.

I regret to inform you that although there is LabView example code availaible for the Discovery 4100 system, there is no LabView code available for the LightCommander. The Discovery system is very different and the software will not work with the LightCommander.

My colleague was refering to the D4100 when indicating that she hoped to have code for you soon.

TI-DLP periodically re-evaluates the platforms that we provide examples for. If we see increased demand for LabView code for the LightCommander we will re-evaluate whether to develop it.

P.S. If you still need the LabView example code for the D4100, please contact the Design House that you purchased the D4100 kit from to request a copy.

Hello Daniele,

At this time the only Discovery kit with Labview support is the D4x00 kits. The Labview code was written in Labview 7.1 and runs under Windows XP.
