DLCP200 questions

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC200

I have a few more questions on the LightCommander.

1) Is it possible to load image patterns into flash to avoid having to load images via a PC every time? How many can be loaded?

2) Can the LC run without the host PC connected after the FPGA is configured by the application software?

3) Is the FPGA controlled through SPI?

Thank you for your responses.

Yes, it is possible using the DLP LightCommander Control Software. You can load up to 1000 images.

    2) Can the LC run without the host PC connected after the FPGA is configured by the application software?

Yes, the LightCommander is designed to be either free-standing or connected to a PC after the DLPC200 has been programmed.

    3) Is the FPGA controlled through SPI?

The Host PC controls the DLPC200 through USB, but customers can create custom hardware that communicates through the expansion header and allows SPI communication with the DLPC200. Refer to the TI DLPC200 datasheet http://www.ti.com/lit/gpn/dlpc200 for more information. LogicPD is a TI Elite Design House and can assist you with any custom hardware you may need help designing or manufacturing.

    Thank you for your responses.

  • Admin,

My question is : I cant connected DLP Light Commander with PC. I load the program(DLP).I started to click it,but the error is "system status :Not Connected". So what have to do??

    Thank you for your interest..

  • Olcay,

Is this the first time that you have tried to connect to the DLP LightCommander? Or, has it worked before, perhaps on another computer?

Does the LgihtCommander power up correctly - with splash screen? When you power up the LC and then connect the USB cable between the LC and your PC, did you get the message that a new device had been detected, and then installed the driver?

If the driver has been installed, do you hear a "clink" sound on your computer audio when you plug the USB cable between the LC and PC? Have you checked the Windows Device Manager to see if the driver is appearing, and is without a yellow exclamation point?

After the LC is on and connected to the PC, when you run the LC Control Program (GUI) do you get a screen full of red, or green?

Have you tried a second computer? What is your PC operating system? Win7 (32 or 64 bit), Win XP?

    Best regards,

    Pascal

  • Hello Pascal,
First of all, thank you for your interest and offers..
In the first time we tried to connect to the DLP Light Commander was succesfull(the pc is 64 bit,win7),but the next tries were not success.. All of other tries were had same error,is DLP Light Commander system status....Not Connected .
Yes I tried with three computers. But one of  compute which is WinXP(32 bit) haven't HDMI,Is it possible to connect with just USB port(cable)?    One of 64 bit and win7.
So, like this reasons I couldn't be success to connect Pc and DLP.
And what u offer me to connect? which PC operation system?and bits??

  • Olcay,

So - you say that once you were able to connect with Win7 64 PC. But now it doesn't work. Was there some powerline surge damage (lightning?) to the LightCommander? Has the LightCommander been dropped, or roughly handled? Can you take the cover off and make sure the boards and connections look OK (is anything broken, bent, or disconnected)?

The HDMI is used ONLY for video. The USB is used for control (using the control program - GUI). You have to create a solution which takes input from the HDMI port in order to put video into the LC that way. If you can not connect via USB, then you will not be able to create a solution. Unless you already created a solution which you saved to the internal flash.

If you remove the cover, can you see the two green LEDs on the control board coming on at power-up?

    Best regards,

    Pascal

  • Pacal,

I checked that the Lgiht Commander power up correctly - with splash screen. Also I took the cover off and make sure the boards and connections  are OK ( anything is not  broken, bent, or disconnected). For now I took some photos for your viewpoint. When I click to open the program is DLP Light Commander, you ll see on photo which is addition photo.

    Best regards

  • Olcay,

Did you mean to attach some photos so that I could see what you are seeing? I can't see the link to them. Could you try again? Or tell me where to look for them?

    Thanks,

    Pascal
