Extended connections in LightCrafter 3010

Can the connections between display board and optical engine be extended? If one wants to separate the optics from the electronics physically by e.g. 30 cm, is it doable?

Is the flex cable custom made for this design or is it off the shelf?

    Hello Jonas,

    Yes, you can extend the flex cable but you have to ensure that you meet the DMD timing requirements.  Our DLPC3438 datasheet includes a Layout Guideline with max. signal length of 15.2 cm for the high-speed signals. The guideline recommends a 43 Ohm terminator resistor for LS_CLK, LS_WDATA and LS_RDATA with a PBC impedance of 68 Ohm.

    As already mentioned you can go beyond this length but you have to ensure the proper termination and timing requirements. We are using a custom made flex cable based on our Layout Guideline.
