DLP application as a tunable optical grating for spectral shaping of supercontinuum light source

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP9000

Greeings,

I have a question regarding the usage of DLP chip as an optical grating. The main purpose is to spectrally shape the light with an extremely wide spectral range, for which 0th diffraction order at normal incidence angel to the grating is appreciated. Here comes the question, the micromirror on the chip can only be tuned to either 12 or -12 degree to the normal surface of the chip, which could be problematic. I wonder if it is possible to let selected mirror on the chip be powered, while the others are at parked state? By the way, what´s the maximum active size of DMD which can be offered by TI? Thanks a lot.

  • Hello Xudon,

Welcome to the DLP Advanced Light Control section of the TI-E2E forum.

Your application sounds quite interesting, however, the operation that you describe is not possible.  Once a DMD is powered all mirrors are landed in either the ON or OFF position (+12° or -12°).

Currently the highest resolution DMD offered to the public is the DLP9000.  This chip is 2560 x 1600.

I hope this information is helpful,
