Row Loading DMD on DLP Lightcrafter 4500 EVM.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP4500, DLPC350

Hello,

I am attempting to load images onto the DMD as a sequence of row blocks. I would like to do this by activating only rows at a time while leave some off  (for example, activating half of the DMD to ON state). The DMD user guide mentions the ability to do this

However, another related post confused me, giving conflicting information which stated that the global clocking pulse PREVENTS this from happening in the DLP4500. Below is link for reference

Am I able to perform row loading of the image onto the DMD? Does the global clocking pulse prevent this?

Thank you for reading,

Evan

  • Hello Evan,

On the DLP4500 platform the DLPC350 controller abstracts out the actual DMD load & reset operations from the user; user drives the DLPC350 like video monitor generating video signals or configures it to show the pixel data that is stored in the flash memory.

The DLC350 has predefined set of sequences (sequence is basically a DMD load and reset instructions) that are applied based on the pattern bit-depth and exposure selection, the controller selects a particular sequence based on the customer input.

Now, going back to actual predefined sequence, yes,  the sequence have instructions for sequential row-addressing, there are global load, global reset, phased load, phased reset, approaches applied in the sequence. Note, these are fixed and not possible to change. The display sequences ensure DMD is exposed for user defined greyscale exposure while providing synchronize signal for trigger input/output option.

Not sure I answered completely. Feel free to comment us back.
