ew lightengine

I had an idea for lightengine without using color wheel/pulsed LED/laser. I made a video and uploaded to Youtube :

  • I mean New light engine. Sorry about the typo.
  • Very Interesting! Thanks for sharing!

  • You are welcome. I just want to see this new light engine in the future DLP projector. I am down to a second DLP projector now. Even this latest one will last me for another 5 years or so. And it is only 1600 lumens.  It will be real amazing if I can own a DLP projector with more than 10 000 lumens with the price range of less than $3000.

I don't understand enough how color wheel or even pulse led/lases can produce 16 million color by using only Red, Green and Blue color. If all those 24 transparent color glasses are not available, just use 3 : Red(255), Green(255( and Blue(255)  just like they are used in color wheel.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Eng,

To answer your question: Red, Green, and Blue colors are combined in 24-bit RGB images (8-bits of Red, 8-bits of Green, and 8-bits of blue). The actual math of those combinations is (2^8)*(2^8)*(2^8), which is about 16 million possible colors.
