Nano EVM won't perform a scan due to "USB Communication fail"

I acquired a Nano EVM over a week ago and haven't been able to get it to scan at all. We didn't order it with the USB cable, but I already had two. One didn't work at all, but the other did connect successfully to my Windows 8.1 laptop so I could use the GUI. I can get the computer to read the Nano's temperature and battery sensors (there's no battery, anyway). I could also get the clock and calendar to synchronize with the computer. When I go to the scan function, I use the sample scan configuration that was already in the GUI software and nothing happens, except for the on-screen error message that reads, "USB Communication fail". How could the USB communication fail when it already read the temperature sensors and synchronized the time data successfully? I've tried the device on 2 Win 8.1 computers and a Windows 7 computer, same thing. Is this Nano defective?

  • Hello Richard,

Welcome to the DLP Advanced Light Control section of the TI-E2E Community.

We are sorry that you are experiencing issues with your new unit.  We have extensively tested the software and units we have here and would like to understand better what is going on with your unit.

I would like to send you a "friendvite" so that we can work with you to determine what the issue is.  When we are done, we can post the results here so that in the unlikely event that someone else experiences this issue they will know what to do.

    Thanks,
