Quick Question on DLP9000FLS

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP9000, DLPC900

Hi,

We have bought DLP9000FLS from one of the TI suppliers and we are looking for the right board for it. We are trying to build a microprinter using the DMD. Would DLP® LightCrafter™ 6500 Evaluation Module (DLPLCR6500EVM) be a good option for our application? We know that it will be compatible with DLPLCR9000EVM. However, the price for this part is extremely over our budget.

Thank you!

Parastoo

  • Hi Parastoo,

Unfortunately, the DLP LightCrafter 6500 does not work with the DLP9000. The DLP9000 requires two DLPC900 controllers (the DLP6500 only uses one), the two chips also have different pin-outs, etc.

If you are looking to use the DLP9000 for evaluation purposes or testing, I would recommend the DLP LightCrafter 9000, which comes with the DLP9000 DMD included. That is currently the only EVM that has been released for the DLP9000.

Please let me know if there are any other questions I can answer for you.

    Best regards,
    Trevor
  • Hi Trevor,

Thank you very much for your response. we ended up buying DLPLightCrafter 6500.Based on your website it should include the following parts, is that correct?

    • DLP6500 DMD
    • DLPC900 digital controller
    • DMD controller board
    • DMD remote board
    • Flex cable

Also, we need to use it for a micropatterning/printing system. Does it have a software that comes with the order or we need to but the software separately?

    Thanks,

    Parastoo

  • Hi Parastoo,

Just to clarify, the LightCrafter6500 includes two boards, the controller board and a DMD board. These boards are connected with an included flex cable.

The controller board includes the DLPC900 digital controller.

The DMD board includes the DLP6500 DMD.

I am not sure what you mean by "DMD remote board."

The LightCrafter 6500 has free software available. From the LightCrafter6500 EVM page, you can find links to the Firmware and Software bundle (which includes the free GUI) and the DLPC900 configuration and support firmware. Check out the LightCrafter 6500 and 9000 User's Guide for more information.

Also, the below series of videos will help walk you through using the GUI:

    Best regards,
