Why DLP LightCrafter have such a strange luminance curve

We thought the luminance output of DLP is linear according to the principle (on/off ratio of the mirror during the stimulation frame), but we recently measured this curve and found it looks strange. For comparison, we also measured a CRT connected to the same computer with duplicate display mode, and the DLP LightCrafter was working in HDMI mode.

Could any one explain why it is like this?

  • Hi Axon,
Welcome to the forums. Could you provide some more details about your test? What image were you using? What mode was the LightCrafter in? How are you measuring the brightness?
    Thanks,Clinton
  • The test was done by a professional monitor calibration kit (Spyder3) on a PC (OS, windows 7), the LightCrafter was connected to the PC with HDMI port and it worked in the HDMI mode. The test image was generated automaticly by a software called ColorFacts and the brightness was measured by the Spyder3 hardware.
