Diagnosing DMD Connection issues

Hi all,

I purchased a B2B extension flex cable from keynote photonics and have implemented it. However, now the dmd does not seem to respond to any pattern I upload to it. I am using the bare (light engine removed) dmd with a 660nm laser source and when I load an image sequence or preset image onto it I see no change in the beam. My question then is:

Is there any way to diagnose if the DMD itself is connected to the chipset through the GUI?

Thanks, Sam

  • Hi Sam,

Please call us or email us at support@keynotephotonics.com to allow us to help you out.

    Thanks,

  • Sam,

The DMD interface is one-way so there's no way to use the GUI to read back the DMD status. Is it possible to reconnect the DMD without the extension cable and confirm that it is still working? The cable itself is not keyed and if it was installed incorrectly (i.e., twisted) then the DMD could have been damaged. Please contact me and I'll send some photos showing the correct orientation of the flex.

  • Hi Layne,

Thanks for the response. I did reconnect the dmd directly to the board and I could see the splash screen upon boot up. I then reattached the cable more securely and tightened the dmd onto its connector. I saw the same result so the problem must have just been a bad connection with the dmd itelf.

    Thanks again,
    Sam
