Hello,
Is there any API or SDK of VB.NET for DLP 6500EVM?
On TI's website, I see it support USB-based API and host GUI.
I'd like to use VB.NET to control DLP 6500EVM.
Thanks.

Hi,
We currently have a DLP SDK released for our LightCrafter4500 platform. We will be releasing an updated version of the SDK, which will support both the LightCrafter (based on the DLP3000 chipset) and the LightCrafter6500 in the coming months. This SDK is written in C++.
You can find the SDK for the LightCrafter4500 bundled in the 3D machine vision TI design (www.ti.com/.../TIDA-00254).
Thanks,
Clinton
Hi Joe,
Here is the link for the page Clinton mentioned.
Unfortunately, we cannot share an exact date for the SDK release, but I can say we are working to release it in the near future.
The current LightCrafter4500 SDK is available, and is only compatible with the LightCrafter4500 (and corresponding DLPC350 controller) at this time.
Best regards,
Trevor
Hi Trevor,
Is there another product that is similar to LightCrafter 6500 and has a released SDK? LightCrafter 4500 looks different and it has lens underneath the board. If the answer is no, I will have to stick with sending commands though USB (or I2C protocol). Am I right?
Hi Joe,
The LightCrafter 4500 is the only EVM that has a released SDK at this time - and it includes a light engine and optics.
Even with an SDK, you would generally control the board through USB or I2C, can you explain your understanding further?
Developing software with the currently released 6500 chipset/EVM would involve programing using the commands and protocols covered in the DLPC900 Programmer's Guide.
Best regards,
Trevor
Ouch. That's bad news for me. I am looking for a SDK or API that allows me to control the DMD through my C/C++ program, so that I can sync the DMD with other components, such as a camera and the light source.
But in the second post of this thread, Clinton wrote "This SDK is written in C++". Besides WintechDigital has a SDK for D4100 that supports C++ http://www.wintechdigital.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=58, so I assumed that SDK for LightCrafter 6500 will do the same thing.
Hi Wei-Yao,
We do not currently have a date for the new SDK release. When the new SDK is released in the coming weeks, we will post about it in this forum, so be sure to check back.
Thanks,
Trevor
Hi Wei-Yao,
Yes, you may follow the instructions you mentioned here. The DLP LightCrafter 6500 can come in two different DMD packages, Type A (FLQ) or s600 (FYE). If you have a Type A package, a DLP6500FLQ, be sure to keep the acetone away from number markings on the gold package or it may remove the ink and contaminate your cloth and clean window.
There are DMDs which cannot be cleaned with acetone, so thank you for checking on your specific DMD.
Best regards,
Trevor
