DLP6500 EVM board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC900

Hi.

I have studied DLP6500EVM board

I have one problem on DLP6500 EVM board.

Once I program boot loader image(bootloader_6500.bin) using JTAG Flashing Programmer, the board doesn't connect to PC through USB port.

So, I cannot program the firmware file into DLP6500 board.

Before programming bootloader image, I erased all flash area.

Attached image is the error message of DLP board.

I want to recover my DLP board.

Please tell me the methods

Regards.

YJ Han.

  • Hi :

I am studying DLP6500 with DLP6500 EVM board.
I bought this board from TI estore.
But, my 6500EVM board has two problems.
The first problem is that the JTAG Programmer occasionally don't detect the board.
In order to program boot loader image, I have to try to detect it many times
This symptom happens from time to time.
The second problem is very serious.
The 6500 DMD chip is going to damage while running the EVM board.
Already my 2 DMD chips were broken when it's running state.
I want to know how to solve this problem.

    Regards.

  • Hello YJ Han,

I regret the delay in response. I believe I understand your first problem. I will try to recreate the issue here and see if I can find a root cause. My suggestion if the board is not detected would be to unplug and re-plug the USB cable from your computer, or reset power on the LightCrafter 6500 EVM.

I do not understand the second issue: "The 6500 DMD chip is going to damage while running the EVM board"
In what way were 2 DMD chips damaged while running? Please explain 1) what happened when they were damaged 2) how they were damaged and 3) include pictures if you can.

    Best regards,
    Trevor
  • Dear Trevo,

    Thanks for reply.

    1. When damaged, DMD do not display. I think the main board works well because LED D9 blinks

    2. After power on, it stops displaying in one hour, I guess. I didn't check the time

After power on, the board runs itself without any action by anyone

    3. I attach the picture below

  • Hi YJ Han,

Do you notice any of the chips on the controller board getting hot when the board is plugged in? Specifically, check the ITE chip (IT6530) and the DLPC900 chip. I would not recommend replacing the DMD on the board at this time.

    Thanks,

    Trevor

  • Hello Trevo,

I checked the temperature of chips on the main board as you mentioned and it's ok.
I already replaced DMD chips one time and it's broken again, so I have 2 broken DMD chips.
Currently my EVM board do not display any images on DMD

    Regards.
  • Hi YJ Han,

I have sent you an E2E friend request. Please accept this and send me a private message when you do. I have a few follow up questions about your board that I would like to ask outside the forum

    Thanks,
    Trevor
