1-bit image on DMD lightcrafter 4500

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP4500

Hi,

My dmd(dlp4500) goal is to project black and white images out. Could you please tell me how to project 1-bit static image in detail? I've read the manuals, but most of them talks about how to project 24 bit images, when I try to directly add a 1-bit image on to the firmware, it rejects, requiring me to convert it to 24 bit. Also, I would like to know if it is possible to import the image directly to the hardware/firmware without the GUI.

Sincerely,

Allen

  • Hi Allen,

The LightCrafter4500 rrequires 24 bit BMP images. There is a tool in the GUI to help build these images. If you only have on or 2 images, you can use that tool to load them into specific bit planes in a BMP image. You would then load this image and use a pattern sequence mode, selecting 1 bit depth patterns and load the bit planes from the flash image index where you bundled this BMP (the FIrmware Build tab will help you do this).

The above is explained in detail in the LightCrafter4500 User's Guide (www.ti.com/.../dlpu011).

    Thanks,
    Clinton
  • Hi Clinton,

Thanks for the reply. Since I want the image to be static, is it possible to load "static" images instead of "video" images, i.e. can the LightCrafter4500 be set to not refresh the DMDs after the image is projected

    Sincerely,

    Allen

  • Hi Allen,

Yes, I described a procedure to load stored patterns out of images in flash. You will want to use one of the pattern sequence modes. You can project a pattern to be displayed indefinitely (for example, using external triggering), however there will be period resets. However, if you are keeping the same pattern, a 'same side reset' will occur, which will minimally disturb your pattern output.

Please see additional details in this thread: e2e.ti.com/.../429153

    Thanks,
    Clinton
