DLPC350 internal buffer working

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC350

Hello ALC team,

I have a question about the DLPC350 internal buffer.

Would you please answer the question?

DLPC350 has two internal buffers. We are considering to use Trigger mode0 and want to switch the buffer co-working with VSYNC.

If the size of image data from host processor is not enough (for example the image is 680x400), we would like to know what kind of working is done in DLPC350 and LightCrafter4500.

Please tell us the buffer switching (whether switching is done or not) and displaying (whether LED is turn on or not).

1) Buffer Switching

 a) Buffer could be switched regardless of the image size

 b) Buffer could not be switched and image would be discarded due to the wrong image size

 c) Buffer could be switched and image would be discarded due to the wrong image size

2) Displaying (LED lighting)

 a) Could start displaying working with buffer switching (LED could be turned on)

 b) Could not start displaying because the buffer is not switched (LED is still turned off)

Best Regards,

Nobu Arai

  • Hi Nobu Arai,

We are considering to use Trigger mode0 and want to switch the buffer co-working with VSYNC.

    1) Buffer Switching

    a) Buffer could be switched regardless of the image size
[Sanjeev] YES. One important factor, the Trigger Mode 0 or any pattern sequence mode in general works strictly when 912x1140 video resolution is feed to the controller. In other words 640x480 video not works or invalid usecase in Pattern Mode.

    b) Buffer could not be switched and image would be discarded due to the wrong image size
[Sanjeev] Sending ANY resolution other than 912x1140 is treated as INVALID in Pattern Sequence Mode. The controller behavior is 'unknown' for such cases.

    c) Buffer could be switched and image would be discarded due to the wrong image size
[Sanjeev] Same comment as (b) above.

    2) Displaying (LED lighting)

    a) Could start displaying working with buffer switching (LED could be turned on)
[Sanjeev] LED output (LED_EN signal) is a function of display sequence. When Sequence is running LED could be turned ON/OFF. It is not directly related to buffer switch

    b) Could not start displaying because the buffer is not switched (LED is still turned off)
[Sanjeev] Same comment as (a) above.

    Regards,
    Sanjeev
