DownLoad BMP-Images to FLASH in LightCrafter4500 by USB1.1 HID API

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC350

In lightcrafter4500EVM-GUI-Control Software,  Images can be download to Flash through USB1.1.

Now how can I download images to Flash in lightcrafter4500 by  USB1.1-HID-API , because I cannot find the API  in DLPC350-Programmer's Guide.pdf ?

  • Hi,

We are not sure we understand your question fully.

Inside the GUI source code there is code that is will actually translate and embed the user input BMP file into the DLPC350 firmware image.

The DLPC350 programmer's guide only provide information regarding the interface and control and it doesn't deal with the offline building of the firmware image. For this we recommend using the GUI tool to build the firmware binary.

  • Hi Sanjeev,
I got a very serious problem with DLP light-crafter 4500 when I uploaded my data (*.bin) to DLPR350PROM completely via USB2.0 connection, but afterward I could not control GUI to project images or re-upload other data again via USB connection.

The signal is not responding anymore.

Please keep us a supports on this problem.

Thank you so much for understanding.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Le,

If you have corrupted the bootloader area (First 128KB of the flash) then you must have to use the JTAG flash tool to update the bootloader program. http://www.ti.com/dlp-lightcrafter4500-jtag-flash

First to check if the bootloader program is not corrupted you can put a Jumper at J18 and then power-on the EVM, launch the GUI tool to ensure the connected button showing Green else you have to follow above the thing, if it showing green then you can use the GUI tool to reprogram the DLPC350 f/w binary again.

  • Hi Sanjeev,

You are quite right that I followed your way and fixed this current problem. it can upload data again and everything is working well now.
One thing that I have to mention you that, I could not upload data via USB 2.0 by Win 8 because of this error : "Unable to read flash manufacturing ID". then I have to use other PC which is running Win 7 to do the job.
Can you keep me some idea to fix this problem?

    Br,

  • With Windows 8 PC were you able to connect with GUI. If not then it could be a driver installation problem on Windows 8. If you are able to connect via GUI and control the projector on the Windows 8 PC then you can do one more thing, once you see the error machine, close the GUI, disconnect the USB, reconnect back then trying downloading. See if it helps.
