Device temperature gradient 10 degree

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP5500

Hi

We have question DLPS013F which is DLP5500 data sheet.

In your previous datasheet (REVISED OCTOBER 2012), there is a sentence  ''Device temperature gradient 10C''

But in your latest datasheet ''REVISED MAY 2015'', we can not find this comment in your datasheet.

Why do you change this portion?  We do not have to take care this point any more?

If ''Device temperature gradient'' exceed 10C, what is going to be happen?

We will wait for your reply.

  • Hello again AM,

We did a review of the thermal information in the datasheets a while back and discovered that this spec had been inadvertently copied from the Type A datasheets.  It does not apply to the type of package used for the DLP5500.

However, there is a general spec of 30 C delta.  This is to prevent the epoxy that the window is embedded in from compromising the seal due to differential thermal expansion.

One additional note of help is that when you are operating with higher powers of illumination, it becomes very important to carefully control the overfill of the DMD array (i.e. the light the falls off the edge of the active array area).

    Best regards,

    Fizix
