DLP® LightCrafter™ Evaluation Module: Dimensions

I understand that the system board (& driver board) are 65mm  by 65 mm in dimension. However I also need the following dimensions, which were not in the user guide:

1. The exact size of the hex spacers and the screws used (yellow box above.)

2. The exact distances between the hex spacers (green arrows above.)

The above diagram was adapted from the user guide p 17. Could you please provide the requisite  information and/or provide a more detailed schematic?

Thank you.

  • I'm going to answer my own question since I now have access to the board and was able to measure it using a digital vernier calipers. The vertical green arrow is 58.7 mm. The horizontal green arrow is 58.0 mm.

The screws used are M2 screws. The height of the device is 18mm.

If an employee can confirm this, or have access to a more detailed spec sheet, that would be helpful.

  • Hi Renju,
My apologies for my oversight and delay in answering your question. An answer will be provided today.

  • I also need to know one other thing.

If you look at the diagram above (from the user's guide), the dimensions of the pixels given include the spacing between them.

    1. What is the exact size of the pixel from diagonal to diagonal?

    2. Could you please tell me what is the distance between each pixel, excluding the distance between pixels?

  • Hi Renju,

For the vertical green arrow: 59.00 mm. For the horizontal green arrow: 58.05 mm.

Yes, the screws used are M2 screws.  6mm spacers are used.

The height from the bottom of the metal base plate to the top of the unpopulated System board is approximately 18mm.

There is a mechanical drawing PDF of the base plate inside the "DLP LightCrafter EVM Reference Design" zip file at the DLP® LightCrafter™ Evaluation Module page. It does not contain the dimensions reported in this post, but it may contain other relevant information for you.

Once again my apologies for my oversight and delay in answering your question until now.

  • Hi Renju,

The "pixel pitch" refers to the distance from the center of one mirror to the center of an adjacent mirror, or alternatively as shown on your captured picture (from the User's Guide or from the DLP3000 datasheet.  This value is 10.8 um.

The size of the individual mirror is approximately 10 microns on each edge.  The gap size is approximately 1 um when the mirrors are nominally flat.
