We are using the DLP lightcrafter EVM.

This module have been a good choice for developing our systems.

Due to the limit of the space of our systems, we now want to divide the Driver Board and the Light Engine and connect them with FFC(flexible flat cable).

To do this, we must first know the part numer of the board connectors(male and female) connecting the Driver Board and the Light Engine.

We found that there is an Intermediate Board between the Driver Board and the Light Engine.

So, we can choose between following two ways.

1. Light Engine(A-1) - FFC - (connection J2)Intermediate Board(A-2)

2. Intermediate Board(B-1)(connection J1) - FFC - (connection J3)Driver Board(B-2)

We think both the two ways are also possible.

Would you let me know the the part numer of the board connectors(J1, J2, J3)?

These are the Manufacturer Part Numbers:

A-2 (J2 on Intermediate Board): Panasonic AXT550224DD1 (0.4 mm pitch) Specs

B-1 (J1 on Intermediate Board): ACES 50044-05001-001 Specs and Drawing

B-2 (J3 on Driver Board): ACES 50039-05001-001. Specs and Drawing

However long FFC and extra connectors should be avoided if possible, because the added RLC parasitics will result in signal degradation, and may result in malfunction and in the worst case may damage the DMD and/or the DLPC300 IC.

Availability is currently an issue for A-2 and there is no alternative from other manufacturers. B-1 and B-2 are available from ACES and also from other Board-to-Board manufacturers. Hence, if absolutely needed, I would suggest only 1 flex: Between B-1 and B-2 and as short as possible.

We had a supply of flex cables, about 45 mm in length, that fit between the driver board and DMD board. Please send us a request at http://www.keynotephotonics.com/contact-us/ at as we are going to build a new batch soon.
