How to control DMD using computer

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC300, TMS320DM365

Hi,

I just have a very basic question about how to use DMD. I am thinking to use DLP3000 DMD to spatially modulate light, and seems I will need DLPC300 Digital Controller to control the DMD, but how can I control the Digital Controller through computer? Can I use labview to do this?
And, DLPC300 Digital Controller looks like a simple chip, how to add connections to it, e.g. USA or BNC, should I solder it on some circuit board? Does TI provide any accessory circuits for this?

Thank you!

  • Hi Tianqi Li44,

Welcome to the DLP LightCrafter Development Platform Forum!

Yes, the DLPC300 is needed as the Digital Controlled for the DLP3000 DMD.  Typically the DLPC300 data and control signals are connected  with a Processor, and not directly with a computer.  And the Processor would have a standard connectivity such as USB, Ethernet, etc.

The DLP® LightCrafter™ Evaluation Module contains the DLP3000 DMD, DLPC300, TMS320DM365 Processor, Memories, Optics and other devices for quick evaluation and development.  USB and DVI (mini-HDMI) are available to connect to a PC directly (using the companion Firmware and Software that are available).

Yes, some developers use Labview and shared their code in this TI E2E Forum.
