DLPC350 Trigger edge control

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC350

Is there a way to increase the trigger edge control beyond ~20usec?  We do not require the camera trigger to be active through the entire exposure time.  The trigger is needed only to initiate the exposure.  On long exposures (>1 sec), we have have a problem with the trigger line going inactive for (possibly) too brief a time before the next exposure.  The line goes inactive for ~2ms before going active again for another >1sec period.  We are not certain, but this may be causing some trigger edges to be missed by our cameras.  If we could control the trigger line (TRIGGER OUT1) to be much less than the exposure time that could be helpful.

  • Hi Ted,

Trigger out 1 is designed to frame the exposure of each pattern, with programmable delay on the rising an falling edge, as outlined in the DLPC350 programmer's guide section 2.4.3.2 Trigger Controls (www.ti.com/.../dlpu010).

You could potentially create and external circuit based on trigger out 1 to generate more of a pulse to trigger your camera if this is an issue. Is this timing spec mentioned in your camera documentation? Have you probed the signal in circuit to see if it is meeting this camera spec? Maybe there is some additional capacitance on the line causing this issue.

    Thanks,
    Clinton
